Ash-trays; cigar and cigarette rests.-A pocket receptacle for tobacco ash consists of a shallow box 1 having a cover or partition 4, formed with an ash inlet opening 5 and a lid 2 which, when closed, is located over the cover 4 and closes the opening 5 in an ash-tight manner, the cover 4 being removable or the bottom of the box being hinged or removable for emptying the box, and the lid being provided with or formed to constitute a rest for a cigarette, cigar, or the like. As shown in Fig. 1, the cover 4 slopes downwardly towards the opening 5 and the hinged lid 2 has a protuberance 6 which closes the opening 5 when the lid is closed. A cigar or cigarette rest 7 may be hinged and controlled by a spring so that it folds down when the lid is closed. In a modification, Fig. 4, a flat cover 4 is provided with a sliding shutter 8 held open by a pivoted catch 11; on closing the lid 2, the depression of the catch releases the shutter, which is closed by springs. In other forms, the opening 5 is closed by a pivoted flap or a pair of hinged flaps. In a further form, Fig. 7, the box is rectangular and has a sliding lid 2 adapted to close the opening 5 in the cover 4 in an ash-tight manner when the lid is fully closed. A groove 16 in the lid serves as a cigarette rest, and the cigarette can be supported with the lighted end over the opening 5 when the lid is partly open as shown. The receptacle may be combined with a mirror, match-box, lighter, cigarette case, or other small article.
