Abstract

283,679. Kelly, W. J. Nov. 9, 1926. 1-Mercaptobenzothiazole, which is used as an accelerator in the vulcanization of rubber, is prepared by heating to about 280‹ C. in an autoclave, aniline, sulphur and carbon bisulphide. The product is dissolved in sodium hydroxide and precipitated with hydrochloric acid.
