283,211. Hopkins Corporation, (Assignees of Hopkins, M. C.). Jan. 7, 1927, [Convention date]. Diaphragms.-Relates to diaphragms for loudspeakers, more particularly of the kind described in Specification 263,481 in which a central conical paper diaphragm 1 is flexibly connected with a sound-board 3, the diaphragm 1 reproducing the high frequencies whilst the low frequencies are transmitted through the flexible connection and reproduced by the sound-board. According to the invention, in order to prevent any tendency for the diaphragm to become distorted at points adjacent its outer edge so that the low frequencies are inaccurately transmitted to the sound-board, one or more ring-like members 4 are secured edgewise and preferably at right angles to the diaphragm 1 either on the inside as shown or on the outside. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a flat diaphragm reinforced by one or more ring-like members. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
