Abstract

283,055. Westfelt, A. U. May 28, 1927. Nonconducting coverings for heat. - A heatinsulating material consists of waterglass which is subjected to a high temperature, so that it undergoes a considerable increase of volume. The waterglass, before it is heated, is mixed with a substance which develops gas when heated, such as potassium chlorate. In order to make the material more solid, pulverized incombustible material, such as a silicate, may be mixed with the waterglass.
