Stapling, hand tools for. - In a stapling and tacking machine of the bench type, wherein an anvil-carrying table is hinged to the body of the machine and may be retained in extended or tacking position by a spring catch, the latter comprises a limb spring secured to the table or body and adapted to engage a projection on the body or table. As shown, the base c of the machine is hinged to the table a at a<3>. A limb spring f secured to a pin f<2> on the base has a bent part f<3> which engages the end wall a<4> of the table when the latter is in extended position. The pin f<2> supports a coiled spring an arm e of which constitutes the staple feeder. In a modification, the spring is mounted on the base and has an aperture to engage over the end of the pin f<2>. In another modification, the spring has an end lip to engage over the end of the pin f<2> which in this case has an enlarged head.
