Abstract
278,928. Jackson, L. Mellersh-, (Asbestos Corporation, Ltd.). Jan. 18, 1927. Density separators.-An apparatus for collecting fibres, particularly asbestos fibres, from air, or for any similar purpose has an horizontal cylindrical casing 2 with a tangential entry pipe 6 arranged at its highest part. A discharge opening 8 for the fibre is formed in the bottom part of the casing and has a downturned conical spout 9 with a bag trap 10. The air outlet 3 is connected to the suction side of the fan 5. The fibre laden air is drawn in through the pipe 6 and follows a spiral path, the fibres being carried centrifugally and gravitationally into the spout 9. The bag permits the fibres to pass through but remains closed against the admission of air.
