Delivery of articles stored in piles. - A towel delivery cabinet, in which the towels are folded and stacked in a pile on separate plates or trays, is provided with means for pushing the lowest tray of the pile off its supports, so that it falls to a position permitting the towel to be withdrawn. The cabinet contains a frame having vertical guides 1 between which lugs 3 on the towelholding plates 2 interfit to hold the pile in vertical alignment. The lugs of the bottom plate rest on rollers 4 and the plate is pushed to the left as viewed in Fig. 2 off the rollers by a lug 5 on a hinged lever 6 controlled by a leaf spring 7. The plate drops to supports 9 where access can be had to the towel through an opening 8 in the cabinet. When the next towel is being delivered, the plate on the supports 9 is first pushed off these supports into a receptacle in the bottom of the cabinet, before the next plate drops, by a lug 10 on a second hinged and spring-controlled lever 11. The levers 11, 6 carry oppositely inclined cam pieces 19, 18 which are engaged in turn by a bevelled crank arm 15 carrying a handle 16. The crank is rotated in a clockwise, direction and may be released by coin-freed mechanism. Retaining hooks 13, 14 limit the outward movement of the levers 6, 11 under the action of their springs 7, 12.
