Abstract
277,703. Janotta, F. Sept. 18, 1926, [Convention date]. Catch gear of mine-cage type. -Safety suspending gear of the type having discs adapted to be engaged and rotated by the lift guides in order to effect the engaging with the guides of the gripping arms, has the discs retarded by a roller and groove arrangement, the axles and pivot pins of the discs and gripping arms being mounted in curved slots. Casings A mounted on the outside of the cage B adjacent to the guides 1 have curved slots 4, 5 in which are respectively mounted the axles of the guide engaging discs 2 and the pivot pins of the gripping arms 8, the gripping arms being also mounted on the axles of the discs. The gripping arms are connected by linkage 14 to a sliding plate 16 to which a cable 21 connected to the hoisting rope is connected. A spring 19 acting against an abutment 20 is normally compressed by the pull of the hoisting rope. When the hoisting rope breaks, the spring acting on the linkage causes the discs to engage the guides. The discs are braked by means of laterally arranged rollers 9 engaging spiral grooves 11 on the discs, the arrangement being such that the jaws 7 of the gripping arms are caused to gradually engage the guides and stop the cage.
