Abstract

277,551. Burke, G., and Acosta, M. Feb. 8, 1927. Pivoted and reversible thin-blade handles. -An adjustable knife of the kind wherein the blade may be secured to the handle in varying angular positions is constructed so that the blade may he adjusted longitudinally of itself or of the handle and secured rigidly in such position. The handle 1 has a rectangular slot 2 near one end and a slit 3 at right angles to the slot . Cover plates 4, 5 with slots 6, 7 are secured to the handle. A bolt 10 has an octagonal part 11 under the head engaging the slot 6 and a smaller square part 12 engaging a slot 9 in the blade 8, which is secured by tightening up a nut 15. The blade is preferably provided with a cutting edge round its whole periphery and may be pointed at one end and curved at the other.
