Abstract

276,907. Gottfried, C. April 4, 1927. Dough-working machines. - A machine for shaping balls of dough into Vienna rolls comprises a series of cups adapted to receive a ball of dough and to move into relationship with a shaping-die. As shown, cups 24 are carried by flat links 22 of an endless belt passing around a polygonal drum 23 and co-operating with shaping- dies 30 disposed radially on a drum 29 rotated in unison with the drum 23 through gears 15, 16. Each die 30 is formed with spiral flutes and is furnished with a stripping-plate 33 adapted to be projected outwardly by a spring 38 to detach the shaped dough portion 44, the plate being retracted by a stationary cam 42 engaging a roller 41 on a stem 36. The cups 24 are secured to the links 22 by rivets having heads 26 adapted to engage apertures in the faces of the drum 23. Two or more cups may be arranged on each link, or two or more endless belts may be arranged side by side. The dies may be arranged upon an endless belt.
