Abstract
276,012. I. G. Farbenindustrie, Akt.- Ges. Aug. 13, 1926, [Convention date]. 1-Amino-3-tertiaryamino-2-propanols are made by causing a secondary base to act on a 3-halogen- 2-oxypropylphthalimide, the phthalic acid residue being finally split off, or on a 3-halcgen-2- oxypropylamine. The products are of therapeutical value and are useful as intermediate products for other medicaments. Examples are given of the preparation of 1-amino-3-diethylamino-2-propanol by heating 3-chlor-2-oxypropylphthalimide with a solution of diethylamine in alcohol and saponifying the product, or by heating the hydrochloride of 3-chloro-2-oxypropylamine with diet,hylamine and alcohol. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes also the preparation of (1) 1-amino-3-dimethylamino-2-propanol by heating 3-chlor-2-oxypropylphthalimide with a solution of dimethylamine in alcohol in a bomb and saponifying the product; (2) 1-amino-3-piperidino- 2-propanol by heating 3-chlor-2-oxypropylphthalimide and piperidine in alcohol and saponifying the product; (3) 1-amino-3-phenylmethylamino-2- propanol by heating 3-chloro-2-oxypropylphthalimide and monomethylaniline and saponifying, This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
