Abstract
275,354. O'Flanagan, M. May 21, 1926. Respirators. - Goggles for swimming, for use in irritating atmospheres, &c., are formed with a semi-rigid frame, which may either be of hard rubber with a soft rubber edge, or of metal and with an underlying sheet of rubber, making contact with the face across the forehead, down the cheekbones and over the nose. The frame may also include a chamber, separate from the eye chamber, enclosing the nose and mouth. Fig. 1 shows the shape of the frame a with a flexible edge b and glasses f. The glasses f may, as shown in Fig. 3, be shaped as segments of spheres with their centres at the centres of rotation of the eyeballs. The chambers d are connected by tubes i, i<3> for the circulation of air, which is promoted by compressible chambers i<1> in the tube i separated by non-return valve i<2>. Fig.- 10 shows goggles with a separate nose-chamber m provided with an inlet pipe n. The pipe n may be provided with a non-return inlet valve, an outlet valve for expiration being provided in the chamber m or in a separate chamber covering the mouth. The pipe n may be connected to an air bag.
