Ball and like mills.-Globular grinding-bodies used in ball, drum, and tubular mills are provided with one, two, three, four, or five flattened surfaces. Fig. 4 shows a globular body a with two plain surfaces b, preferably arranged parallel to each other. Fig. 5 shows a grinding-body a with three flattened surfaces b, which may be of equal or different area. In Fig. 8, the body a is provided with four plain surfaces b, opposite surfaces being parallel to each other and at right-angles to the other surfaces. The grinding-bodies are preferably made of steel.
