Abstract

273,318. Lasek, J. June 24, 1926, [Convention date]. Pile-fabric looms. -A device for forming knots in carpet making comprises a rotatable metal or other ring segment 1 of U-section which receives two warp threads 8, 9. These pass between the fianges of the segment over a thread guide 4 bridging the two walls of the segment. The threads after being laid around the segment pass outside through eyelets 5. By means of rods 2:, which may be controlled by a jacquard for patterning purposes, selected segments are rotated from the position shown in Fig. 1 to that shown in Figs. 3 and 4, whereby loops are formed through which a weft thread 7 forming the pile is passed by a shuttle 6. The segments are then restored to their normal position and the warp threads straightened out, whereby the weft thread is looped around the warp threads and forms double knots as shown in Fig. 6. The warp is held at the rear by yieldable abutments. If one of the warp threads in each pair is merely passed through a jacquard heald, a simple Persian knot is formed.
