Abstract

272,142. Turner, P. W. Dec. 1, 1925. Paints.-The pigment portion of a paint contains a large proportion of a porous silicon compound such as Kieselguhr or a mixture of such porous compounds together with a silicate such as kaolin, talc, slate or asbestos or mixture thereof, and a material such as titanium oxide, zinc oxide, lithopone, white lead or lead sulphate, or a mixture of such materials. The pigment portion is made into a paint with the aid of a vehicle consisting of a gum or resin such as gum copal, and turpentine, terebine or the like. Linseed oil and collodion may be added. A porous magnesium silicate termed " Terra flake " may wholly or partially replace Kieselguhr, and colouring materials such as iron oxide or ultramarine may be included in the composition. Examples of suitable compositions are given. The paint is particularly suitable for application according to the method described in Specification 271,912. The Provisional Specification describes also the optional inclusion of drying oil as a component.
