Reflex cameras for roll films.-Relates to rollfilm reflex cameras fitted with a focal plane shutter and in which the body or casing comprises two principal parts, one of which, constituting the body pmper, carries the lens, film spools, mirror, shutter and their operating mechanism, the other part comprising a casing or shell which is removable for loading, the film spools being mounted at the forward part of the camera, the film passing between the side walls of the camera and an inner box or cone. According to the invention, the two parts of the camera casing are hinged together and the shutter operating mechanism is mounted on one side therof with an operative connection to the hinged mirror across the space traversed by the film. As shown, the hinged part 11, Fig. 1, comprising parts of two sides, the bottom and part of the back, is hinged at 12 to the body casing 10, opening and closing book-wise, a locking catch 21 being provided. The two sides of the hinged part 11 are of different depth, one side 23, Fig. 2, being deep enough to open sufficiently one side side of the camera to facilitate the insertion of the receiving film spool 24; the other side 25 being shallow so as to leave sufficient depth on that side of the fixed part 10 of the camera for mounting the shutter mechanism and the exterior winding and setting means. The lens board 14 is focused by rack and pinion means 15. The upper roller 30 of the shutter is situated within the housing 18 for the folding hood 19. The shutter mechanism 28, Fig. 3, is mounted on the side of the body casing 10 and interconnects with the mirror raising mechanism operated from the front push rod 33, through an angle lever 41, 42, the latter part sliding on the casing 10 and the part 41 extending across the film channel 44, Fig. 2, well above the edge of the film 44<a>. The mirror 17 and its mechanism are mounted on an inner framework 13. The mirror is normally held in focusing position by a spring-controlled lever 36. On operating the push rod 33 the lever 36 raises the mirror through a pin 38 on the mirror frame; when the mirror is raised against the inner framework of the focusing screen 20, the lever 36 operates another angle lever 39; this lever raises the sliding angle lever 41, 42 which rocks a spring lever 43 and thereby releases the shutter pawl 31. The shutter is of a type which can be set for " bulb " or variable instantaneous exposures.
