Abstract
268,951. Fish, C. J. March 24, 1926. Casement fasteners, cockspur type, suitable also for doors and sashes, are mounted on a conical bearing adjusted axially to take up wear. The bearing may be conical or hemispherical, single or double, and may be formed on the lever, the pivot, or the securing-screw. The lever 1, Fig. 2, is coned to receive split washers 3 around a screw 4 engaging the plate 5 and a nut 7. The washers 3 may be solid and be engaged by centre screws carried by the plate 5, or the washers may be coned internally and engage external cones formed on the lever. The lever may have a, single cone surface engaging a cone formed on a pivot 8, Fig. 3, carried by the plate 5 or formed on or carried by the screw 4. The lever may engage one or two double-coned washers 13, Fig. 6, bearing against single coned washers 14, or the lever may be mounted on centre screws 16, Fig. 8, or on a centre screw and a cone formed on the plate. Instead of two loose cones around the screw 4, one mav be formed on the plate 5 or on the screw 4. Where opposed cones are used, the space between may contain lubricant.
