Abstract

268,853. Teague, F. C. Dyche-. Dec. 10,1925. Plastic compositions containing rubber and carbon.-A rubber composition suitable for vulcanizing purposes comprises rubber mixed with finely divided carbon deposited on a catalyst as described in Specification 160,561, [Class 90, Non-metallic elements]. The catalyst used comprises preferably equal parts of iron and nickel formed by the reduction of iron and nickel oxides by carbon monoxide at 500‹ C., and the mixture may comprise 200 parts rubber, 72 parts carbon black containing 5-10 per cent of catalyst, 20 parts zinc oxide, 8 parts sulphur, 2 parts diphenylguanidine.
