Abstract
268,677. Wade, J. T. Nov. 3, 1926. C e n t r i - fugal pumps; casings.- Rectilinear and tangentially disposed discharge passages 29, Fig. 2, are provided in a ring 12 which forms the peripheral boundary of the impeller chamber. The passages 29 deliver into an annular chamber 13 from which the fluid pumped is led by discharge pipes 24 and may be fitted with renewable and divergent nozzles 30. Plugs 31 are fitted to provide access to the nozzles 30. The ring 12 may have a semi-circular groove 26, Fig. 3, of the same radius as the tangential passages 29. Fixed guide vanes 28 are disposed around the central inlet eye and addition vanes co-operating with the guide vanes may be carried by the impeller. The main blades 27 are short and renewable. Jet wheels.-The pump may be adapted to act as a turbine.
