Boots and shoes ; foot-arch supports. - A foot-arch support comprises strips of flexible fabric d, e which are inextensible in the direction of pull but are rendered yieldable in a transverse direction by the incorporation into them of rubber or other elastic threads. The strips are fastened to a boat or shoe b at c and are provided at their upper ends with hooks h, i adapted to project through lace-holes k, l and to receive the boot &c. lace. Alternatively, the strips d, e may be fastened to the centre of the sole, passing through an opening in the welt, and be made to form part of the lace-up portion of the upper by passing through slots therein. In a further modification the strips are formed with longitudinally slitted ends which are passed one through the other and are provided with leather cross-pieces have hooks or lace holes registering with the normal lace-holes of a shoe.
