Abstract

267,204. Thompson, G. Dec. 7, 1925. Pianoforte soundboards.-To improve the tone, tension is applied to the rear of the soundboard by a spring device adjustable by a screw passing through a bracket. The spring, shown in plan in Fig. 1, is cut bow form with a median loop 8 which carries a sleeve 9 in which screws a pin 11 with head. 12 abutting against a plate or bracket 13 secured to a horizontal bracing 2. The ends of the spring are attached to a bar 5 with hook 4 engaging an eye 3 inserted in the sound board 1. The plate 13 has supporting sidecheeks 14, and is provided with a number of vertically .arranged holes for the pin 11 permitting variation of the position of the eye 3.
