Platen machines.-In a platen press of the type in which inking-rollers 25 rotate around a D- shaped bed 1, the platen 8 is made stationary, and the bed 1 is swung to and from the platen. The bed 1 is fixed to a shaft 4 carried by levers 5 fixed to shaft 6 rotatable in the machine framing 7. Movement is imparted to the bed by links 19 pivoted on the shaft 4 and connected to cranks 18 on a shaft 14, which is geared to a treadleoperated shaft 11 arranged so that the machine completes one cycle of operations for each revolution of the shaft 14.
