Abstract

265,377. Barker, T. Feb. 4, 1926. Relling-machines; dough working. - Dough in ribbon form, is fed to a screw-like member supported at one end and free at the other co-operating with moving surfaces in such a manner that the dough is forced into the coils of the screw and worked, the worked portion being automatically worked off the screw. The screw may comprise a corkscrew-like member a, Fig. 3, and may be of uniform or non-uniform pitch and diameter. Fig. 6 shows a machine wherein the dough portions pass through sheeting-rolls e on to a band b which conveys them beneath a flattening-roll g to a drum c which lifts the end of the dough and forces it into engagement with the screw a. A pressure roll d, pivoting in arms d<1> about the roll c and driven in the same direction, forces the dough into engagement with the screw and, in association with the drum c, causes the worked dough to unscrew from the member a. The worked dough portion falls on to a band f disposed laterally of the band b and is carried thereon beneath a shaping-band h. To facilitate disengagement of the dough from the screw, the latter may be given a longitudinal, lateral or gyratory movement. The screw may be rotated at a speed higher or lower than that of the members c; or the parts may be moved at the same speed during working of the dough and then at different speeds to effect its disengagement. According to the Provisional Specification, the screw may co-operate with a semi-circular moulding channel.
