Abstract

264,262. Sykes, Ltd., W., and Sykes, H. O. Oct. 24, 1925. Guards for games.-A cricket pad of the type adapted to protect the ankle, leg, knee and lower part of the thigh has a quilted wing portion 8 and a knee portion 5<a> provided with a number of horizontal pads 5 and vertical pads 12, the horizontal pads extending across the main part 1 of the guard and the vertical pads across the wing. The main part of the guard is formed of vertical canes 2 covered with sheepskin, leather or other material. The wing-pads 11, knee-pads 5, 12 and thigh-pads 6, 7, 13 are stuffed with wool. An opening 3 is provided in the lower part of the guard to receive the foot, and. ventilation openings 4 are provided between the canes. Pads 14, 15, 16, Fig. 3, of felt covered with cotton are provided on the inner surface of the guard. The wings 8 are provided on the same side of each guard for a batsman, but on opposite sides for a wicket-keeper.
