Abstract

264,023. General Electric Co., Ltd., Kinnes, A., and Hunt, M. H. Jan. 29, 1926. Electric hot-plates.-An electric hot-plate consists of a non-helical wire covered with insulating beads, wound into a single or double flat spiral and enclosed between two plates. In the arrangement shown the wire is wound in two spirals 2, 3 the ends 15, 16 and the junction 12 being connected to terminals so that the wires may be connected singly, in parallel, or in series. When one spiral only is employed a tapping may be taken from the middle of it for similar connection. The beads 4 through which the wire is threaded are of the concave-convex type. The plates 1, 6 between which the wire is enclosed are connected by bolts 8, 10 which do not touch the lower plate 1, the nuts being separated from it by mica washers. Mica heat insulation 5 is also placed between the wire and the plate 1.
