Abstract

263,541. Humphries, H. B. P. Sept. 30, 1925. Indiarubber with embedded wires &c.-Antislipping treads, particularly for the soles of boots or shoes, are formed of raw crepe rubber with spaced insertions of material having a different physical character, e.g. fabric, leather, rubber composition, comminuted or dissolved cementitious material. The insertions may be embedded, sewn, laced, or otherwise incorporated. Fig. 1 shows a pad obtained by cutting a section from a rolled composite strip of raw or crepe rubber r and fabric &c. f Fig 2 illustrates how the textile &c. material f may be sewn or laced into the rubber r, the loops being afterwards cut away to leave edge-on surfaces of the fabric &c. Fig. 12 shows a pad formed by cutting sections from a built-up length comprising raw or crepe rubber r and spaced laminae of fabric &c. f.
