Abstract
261,784. Elliott, D. J., and Jones, G. C. Nov. 21, 1925, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Liquids, sampling; moving-chamber apparatus. -A liquid-sampling apparatus comprises means whereby average samples of a varying body of liquid in a pipe or vessel are automatically collected. Fig. 3 shows an apparatus wherein an outlet 3 from a pipe leading from a still to a tank delivers oil as desired to receptacles 9, 10, on a hollow shaft 7. When a predetermined amount is collected, the receptacle 9 overbalances, discharging its contents to the tanks 5 and drain or outlet 6, and bringing the receptacle 10 into position. The receptacles are provided with adjustable sampling-tubes 14, down which, just before the vessel 9, 10 overbalances, an overflow passes to the hollow axle 7, and thence to a sample receptacle.
