Reduction processes.-In the fine grinding of corn, the first stages of the process are carried out by roller pairs in which the cutters of one roll, rotating at a high speed, act on the backs of the cutters of the other roll rotating at a slower speed at a differential ratio of 1 : 4 4 to 1 : 4¢, while the last grinding operations are carried out by roller pairs having ribs acting back to back at a differential ratio of 1 :4¢ to 1:5.
