Abstract

261,750. Schmidt'sche Heissdampf Ges. Nov. 23, 1925, [Convention date]. Heating by indirect contact of steam.-In a compound locomotive boiler having a drum 1 in which high pressure steam is generated by circulating steam from a water-tube boiler in the firebox through heating tubes 5, the water tubes 4. the lower headers 6 and the drums 7 of the watertube boiler, and the heating tubes are subdivided to form a number of separate closed sections arranged one behind the other longitudinally of the locomotive. The heating tube elements are connected in turn to a drum and header on opposite sides of the water-tube boiler by steam inlet tubes 9 and return tubes 10 detachably secured to the heating tube headers 8<a>, 8<b>. The abutting ends of the boiler headers and drums are formed with engaging recesses and projections.
