Abstract

260,657. Hayes, F. July 24, 1925. Socks. - A shield of paper, rubber, or other material, for wear between the foot and the stocking and shaped to fit on or around the heel, is provided with one or more removable linings or facings of absorbent material adapted to lie under the heel of the wearer. The shield A, shown in section in Fig. 1, is recessed under the heel at a<3> to take a sheet of absorbent material B. The sheet B may have a backing B<1> of waterproof material attached to it, or a number of pieces of absorbent material with backing pieces may be pressed together hydraulically and laid in the recess. Alternatively, the body of the shield may be provided with one or more linings of absorbent material.
