Abstract

A lifting apparatus (10) for lifting a first person by a second person, the apparatus comprising: a base member (20); a back member (30) coupled to the base member to collectively provide a seat for the first person; wherein the base member includes a first carrying means (22, 24) such that the apparatus is supportable by a first arm of the second person, and wherein the back member includes a second carrying means such that the apparatus is supportable by a second arm of the second person.

Claims (24)

1. A lifting apparatus for lifting a first person by a second person, the apparatus comprising: a base member; a back member coupled to the base member to collectively provide a seat for the first person; wherein the base member includes a first carrying means such that the apparatus is supportable by a first arm of the second person, and wherein the back member includes a second carrying means such that the apparatus is supportable by a second arm of the second person.
2. An apparatus as claimed in Claim 1, wherein the first carrying means comprises at least one sleeve, handle or strap for receiving the first arm of the second person.
3. An apparatus as claimed in Claim 2, wherein the first carrying means comprises a first sleeve, handle or strap and a second sleeve, handle or strap.
4. An apparatus as claimed in Claim 3, wherein the first strap or handle is spaced apart from the second strap or handle.
5. An apparatus as claimed in Claim 4, wherein the first strap or handle is provided at a first side portion of the base member and the second strap or handle is provided at a second side portion of the base member.
6. An apparatus as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the second carrying means comprises a sleeve, handle or strap for receiving the second arm of the second person.
7. An apparatus as claimed in Claim 6, wherein the second carrying means comprises a third sleeve, handle or strap and a fourth sleeve, handle or strap.
8. An apparatus as claimed in Claim 7, wherein the third strap or handle is spaced apart from the fourth strap or handle.
9. An apparatus as claimed in Claim 8, wherein the third strap or handle is provided at a first side portion of the back member and the second strap or handle is provided at a second side portion of the back member.
10. An apparatus as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the first carrying means extends upwards from the base member.
11. An apparatus as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the second carrying means is provided at an elevation which corresponds with the first carrying means such that, in use, the arms of the second person are level.
12. An apparatus as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the apparatus is configured such that, in use, the second person is positioned laterally adjacent to the apparatus.
13. An apparatus as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the apparatus is configured such that, in use, the seat is laterally orientated with respect to the second person.
14. An apparatus as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the back member and the base member are flexible.
15. An apparatus as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the apparatus is rollable and/or foldable.
16. An apparatus as claimed in any of Claims 1 to 13, wherein the back member and the base member are substantially rigid.
17. An apparatus as claimed in Claim 16, wherein the back member is pivotably connected to the base member.
18. An apparatus as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the apparatus includes one or more lifting points for connecting to a mechanical lifting device.
19. An apparatus as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the apparatus is configured such that it is operable by the second and a third person.
20. An apparatus as claimed in Claim 19, wherein the apparatus is configured such that it is operable by the second person located at a first side of the seat and the third person located at a second side of the seat.
21. An apparatus as claimed in Claim 19 or 20, wherein the second carrying means comprises a fifth sleeve, handle or strap for receiving the arm of the third person.
22. An apparatus as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the apparatus is configured and/or dimensioned to be positionable in a wheelchair of standard or typical dimensions.
23. An apparatus as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the apparatus is configured and/or dimensioned to be positionable in a bath of standard or typical dimensions.
24. An apparatus as claimed in Claim 23, wherein at least a portion of the apparatus is waterproof.
