Abstract
258,819. Rix, C. June 1, 1926. Jet-wheels; casings; regulating; reversing. -A jet-wheel 1 having curved blades of the form shown is driven in one direction by using one set of nozzles 6, 7 and in the other direction by using the other set 6, 7. The wheel 1 carries five series of blades separated from one another by flanges 8, the blades of adjoining series being staggered. Two of these series having blades in alignment are fed from the upper nozzles 6, Fig. 8, and the other three, also having blades in alignment, are fed from the lower nozzles 7, Fig. 10. Hollow ported valves 13, 14 are rotated to bring one or more nozzles into operation, apertures being provided for cleaning the valve ports and nozzles. By connecting the nozzle to a sleeve 28, Fig. 11, its inclination may be adjusted, the casing being recessed to receive an exchangeable guide member 23 of suitable thickness. The casing 3 and lid 4 have double walls to store oil or the like. An inspection aperture 5 is formed in the lid 4.
