Abstract

258,128. Marston, Ltd., J., and Greenwood, J. E. Dec. 2, 1925. Channels in roller bearings.-A roller bearing cage 5 having two or more rows of rollers 7 has between the rows of rollers a groove 8 connected to the roller recesses by passages 9 so that lubricant supplied to the groove 8 is circulated to the rollers. The groove 8 may be on the outer or inner circumference of the cage as shown in Fig. 1 and Fig. 3 respectively. As applied to the crankshaft of a fluid pressure engine, lubricant is supplied to the groove 8 through a slot in the connecting rod as described in Specification 248,563, or under pressure through passages in the crankshaft, or from a gutter 15, Fig. 3, round one or both crank-webs and through a passage 16 through the crank-pin.
