Abstract

257,947. Scherbaum, B., (Assignee of Krause, A.). Sept. 3, 1925, [Convention date]. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Ball-and-ring mills; roller-and-ring mills.-In a vertical or horizontal centrifugal grinding-mill with one or more rotating grinding-bodies pressed by centrifugal action against a stationary or rotating grinding-path, the grinding-body, which in diameter is equal to or greater than the radius of the grinding-path, is arranged in cranked portion or in a trough-shaped cavity of the driving-shaft. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the grinding-bodies 14 are supported between limbs 12 and a connecting bridgepiece 13 forming the cranked portion of the horizontal shaft 9 which is journaled in the end covers 5, 6 of the grinding-chamber. The drivers 15 are provided with beater claws 16, 17 the claws 16 working against the grinding-rings 1 and the claws 17 working in the widened space of the junction and intermediate pieces 2, 3 of the grinding-chamber. Screws 18 secure the drivers and claws to the shaft 9. The grinding- rings 1 are secured in place by projections 20 on the casing engaging in' recesses in the ring, and are supported opposite the projections 20 by strips 22 on the ring engaging in slots 23 in the casing the space 24 allowing the ring to expand in a radial direction. Alternatively, the ring may be bolted to the casing on one side and supported on the opposite side by a member inserted in the ring engaging in a hole in the casing. Fig. 3 shows the grinding-bodies 14 arranged in trough. shaped cavities of the shaft 9. The cavities are provided with exchangeable sheaths 28 secured by screws 29, and helical blades 30 on the shaft 9 work against the guiding-paths 1. Holes 31 in the sheaths and in the shaft allow dust to return from the sheaths to the grinding-space 4. The grinding-bodies are arranged one behind the other, or in staggered relationship to one another.
