Abstract

Kettles; heating and cooking vessels; lids.-A steam escape device for kettles or other cooking vessels comprises a hollow casing 7 providing a passage from the interior of the vessel to lateral outlets 10 overhung by a detachable top portion 11, removal of which gives access to the interior of the casing. The casing has a central part 8 extending through a hole in the lid or the upper part of the vessel and secured at the underside by a nut 9. The cover may have a knob 12 of heat-insulating material. An outwardly-opening non-return valve 13 consisting of a thin partspherical shell of aluminium provided with a stem 16 working in a guide 17 may be provided, the seating face 14 of the valve closing on to an annular surface 15 formed on the casing.
