Abstract

257,419. Tasker, E. E. Nov. 4, 1925. Drying; wet presses.-Moisture is removed from pulp, moist paper, paper, strawboard, &c. in paper machines during manufacture by the use of superheated steam applied direct to the moving layer at any required angle. The superheated steam may be applied by adjustable perforated pipes A which may be surrounded by perforated rollers. Hoods C collect abstracted moisture and condensed steam which is carried away by exhaust means. Bv this apparatus the drying cylinders and press rolls may be reduced in number or eliminated.
