Abstract

A reinforcing bead for a switch or socket cut-out in a plaster board wall. The bead comprises a frame and a removable centre panel which isolates any electrical connections while plastering and decorating takes place, and protects the connections from damage. Fixing screws can be used to locate the bead into position, and a serrated edge provides plenty of fixing positions. The bead can allow poor or irregular plasterboard or plaster to be corrected.

Description

Socket and Switch Bead
This invention relates to a protective socket and switch bead
When a wail is piaster boarded using dot and dab methods, it is ver·/ difficult to accurately locate the socket or switch cut outs as they have a tendency to siip which leaves a diffscuitto fill edge. This invention will repair and realign any irregular cut outs. They can also be used in renovation work to make live connections, in a wall to be plastered, safe and keep live connections clean and dry.
Figure 1 shows the socket version
Figure 2 shows the switch version f igure 3 shows the cross section of the socket version
Figure 4 shows the vertical cross section of the socket and switch:
Figure 5 shows the vertical cross section of the socket and switch without piaster board
The socket and switch beads main feature is the fixed centre panel. It has cut out lines indented into its surface to allow the removal of its centre on completion of plastering and decoration. This allows electrical circuits to be terminated and successfully tested with insulation and earth fault loop impedance test before plastering has commenced. This will allow any faults to be detected and rectified at an early stage.
The socket and switch beads also assist the plasterer to complete a job efficiently task as the plasterer will not have to plasterer around holes but can finish to the surface of the bead.
