Abstract

A shopping trolley has an upwardly facing barcode scanner 1 mounted on the trolley. The trolley may further comprise a camera 2 suitable for interpreting a 3D image of a product to be placed in the trolley. The trolley may further have handles/hangers 3 within the cargo area such that bags can be held open when placed in the trolley, such that products can be placed within them without difficulty. By providing such an invention, a user may purchase a plurality of items by scanning each product on the barcode scanner; placing each item in a bag in the trolley; paying for the goods upon checkout. Therefore, the items need not be removed or unbagged until the purchase has been completed.

One step shopping cart patent application
Background
The inefficiency of the current self checkout service and time consumers invest in shopping, instigated me to come up with an improved one step model for self service check out being directly integrated in the shopping cart system.
Novelty
The novelty in this innovation is the entire self service solution when integrating the supermarket shopping cart with a self service solutions integration, thereby overcoming unnecessary labour hours and reducing consumer grocery shopping time.
The invention solves a consumer problem of unnecessary labour when: a. placing the products in the cart, b. placing them on the belt and c. putting the scanned items in bags back into the cart. The proposed shopping cart system allows a consumer to complete this process in one step when 1. scanning the product on the mounted shopping cart, 2. placing them in the bag in the shopping cart and 3. Paying for goods upon check out.
The entire solution provides several combined areas of novelty: 1. An scanner mounted on the shopping trolley, 2. the preplaced shopping bags and 3. an 3D camera system that verifies the scanned content has the same 3D shape as is barcode placed in the cart and 4. a customer is only allowed self check out if 90% placed goods matches the 3D scans.
Prior art
Prior art for this patent application consists of a self service scanning check out box US8825541B1, which reduces labour hours however maintains high consumer labour.
Other prior art in this area includes a scanner attached to a shopping cart in which a consumer can hold the scanner to scan the products themselves on the shelves, this system differs in the sense that the proposed scanner is mounted on the trolley and isn't hand held.
US6910697B2 patent proposes a different system where the cart is locked and the cart scans the product, differing from this invention is the manner that the scanner is not mounted on the cart, not having 3D camera verification system or system analysis system that allows self checkout and preplaced bags.
US 7660747 B2 patent proposes an analysis system based on the location when scanning a good, also differing from this verification system.
Drawing
1. Product scanner mounted on cart, the barcode of products should be scanned on the black area before being placed in the shopping cart.
2. Camera should have an overview of the 5 bags, with an 3D analysis system matching the placed goods with the 3D scan.
3. The cart should have mounted hangers on which shopping bags can be placed.
4. When the consumers brought items matches the scanned items the costumer can make the payment upon checkout and the doors will open and close, similar to a parking model.

Claims (3)

Claims
1. An self upward facing product barcode scanning model mounted on the shopping cart.
2. A 3D vision camera mounted on the front of the shopping cart that is able to visualize the 3D image of the product placed in the cart and with the 3D barcode scanner.
3. The shopping cart should have handles where the shopping bags can be placed internally in the shopping cart, for direct placement of scanned goods.
