Abstract

A multi terrain wheel ski for pram or similar that engages with the rear wheels and allows the pram to navigate soft or uneven terrain safely comprising of slider plate, a hook and a webbing strap. The plate will preferably comprise of plastic or similar and have a textured surface and a smooth surface. The textured surface will preferably grip the wheel to create a curve. The webbing will preferably comprise 22mm webbing and will attach the plate to the hook. The hook will preferably engage with the handle bar of the pram, pushchair, or similar and in combination with the slider plate will create a friction lock.

Description

Patent for enabling a Perambulator (Pram) Pushchair, Buggy or any other wheeled device used for transporting children to be modified to cope with differing terrain such as sand, snow, graveled surfaces or long grass etc.

Description

Whilst it is acknowledged that there are a range of pram, pushchair, stroller and buggies available with some that claim that they are safe and easy to use on all terrain surfaces. This claim however, is broad, in relation to soft terrain such as soft sand or snow where even the most robust versions can readily sink to the axils, which in turn could compromise the integrity of bearings and /or wheel hubs.

The concept of the multi-terrain slider is to enable the pram, pushchair, stroller or buggy to glide / slide across the service of the soft surface which enables the pram, pushchair, stroller or buggy to maintain its stability and horizontal contact with the surface.

The Multi-terrain Slider is manufactured from tough durable 0.8mm thick Polypropylene, which is textured on one side and smooth on the other. The textured surface assists in gripping the wheels that form the curve for the Multiterrain Slider to effectively and efficiently operate. The Multi-terrain Slider is comprised of two plastic hooks that are attached via 22mm nylon webbing. Each end of the webbing is attached to the Multi-terrain Slider polypropylene via two eyelets by a stitched loop. FIG 1 Shows the Terrain Slider construction Polypropylene prototype blank 0.8mm gauge FIG 2 shows the hook which is used on the Multi-terrain slider, it hooks over the handles of the pram, which when configured with the webbing creates a friction break, which enables the slider to form a curve using the curvature of the wheels of the pram, pushchair, stroller or buggy, this enables the Multi-terrain slider to maintain its integrity and is an integral part of this device. FIG 3 shows how the combination of the Polypropylene panel, the webbing and hook configuration enables the slider to form an arc using the radius of the wheel of the Pram, pushchair, buggy, stroller. This configuration forms the basis of the device and enables the pram, pushchair, buggy, stroller to slide over soft or broken terrain with ease. FIG 4 Shows the hook fitting to the handle of the pram, pushchair, stroller, buggy which is easy to fit and provides the location points for the hooks which in turn control the length of the webbing which is adjusted by sliding the webbing through the locating hooks which is achieved easily by a simple pull on the remaining webbing loop.

Claims (6)

1. Claims: 1) The Multi-terrain Slider will enable traditional prams, buggies, strollers and pushchairs to navigate soft or uneven terrain safely and with little effort.
2. 2) The design will have a universal fit, which will attach to all standard makes and configurations of pram, pushchair, stroller or buggy.
3. 3) The Multi-terrain Slider is simple to fit and adjust.
4. 4) The multi-terrain slider is light and easily stored for access and use.
5. 5) The use of 22mm webbing and hooks configuration provide a friction lock that holds the Multi-terrain Slider in its optimum position.
6. 6) The combination of the webbing and hook configuration will safely enable weights of up to 30kg
