Abstract

254,293. Krupp Grusonwerk Akt.- Ges., F. June 24, 1925, [Convention date]. Squirting.-A heated metal block 6 is extruded through a die 5 to form a rod or tube by end pressure, the block being laterally confined by a holder 1 which is of such a length that the die 5 is exposed both before and after the holder is positioned over the work. The work being positioned adjacent an abutment 9 on a ram 8, the holder is moved to the right by pistons 7 into the position indicated in dotted lines, after which the ram 8 and holder 1 are moved to the left to extrude the work through the stationary die 5. In a modification the abutment 9 is fixed, and the holder remains stationary after being positioned over the work, extrusion being effected by movement of the die towards the fixed abutment.
