Abstract

A blind formed of fabric has fabric slats or vanes 5 attached at their rear sides to a fabric/mesh panel 3. Vertical control straps 4 connect the slats at their front sides. The straps and fabric panel are connected to a roller 2 at the top, and the slats 5 can be opened or closed in Venetian blind fashion by rotating the roller 2 up to a quarter of a turn (see figures 9 & 10). The blind can be raised by further rotation of the roller, which causes the blind to wind around the drum in roller blind fashion (see figures 12-22). The fabric parts are preferably bonded together, e.g. using ultrasonic welding or glue bonding. The blind may be used as a window blind.

Title;
Light Control Blinking Blind Fabric (LCBBF)
Background;
Venetian blinds are traditionally made from rigid plastic material in order to function. There is a need for a new design of a soft fabric formation. The LCBBF is a soft fabric designed to function as blinds without the need for rigid plastic material and chords requiring assembly.
Statement of Invention;
This invention is relating to a new fabric formation, consisting of a single fabric with other fabric pieces bonded in a way to enable the fabric to control light passing through and functioning as a blind.
The method of making blinds from soft fabric is limited. Manufacturers typically result in using plastic materials to produce blinds. The LCBBF is a functioning fabric as well as a new design and a method in controlling light. The fabric formation is made on an industrial scale by ultrasonic welding and not stitching.
Advantages:
Soft fabric is generally used for curtains with a limitation for using it in soft blinds. Soft fabric blinds are available as a Roman Blind design and 3-D double sided fabric to control the light passing between fabric panels. The LCBBF is a new and different method of controlling the light passing between the fabric panels using single mesh fabric with straps. The straps will control the movement of the Blink panels which are fabric pieces attached in a horizontal position on the mesh fabric. On a commercial scale the LCBBF is made by ultrasonic welding and not stitching providing commercial benefit of mass production to reduce costs. Traditional blinds require a complex assembly method which is time consuming, while the LCBBF is ready made from the manufacturer to be linked to the blind roller.

Description;
The LCBBF is specifically designed to function as a blind, and will control the light passing through by adjusting the movement of the fabric. The LCBBF is formed by one single mesh fabric, the Blinking Panels and the Control Straps. All pieces are ultrasonically welded, the Blinking Panel is welded from one side to the mesh in a horizontal position and the other side is welded to the Control Straps. The LCBBF will be moved and rolled by a standard blinds roller, which is attached and bonded, so when the roller rotates anticlockwise the LCBBF will be functioning in different stages. When the blind roller is positioned at a position of zero angle degrees, this position is situated with the Blinking Panels in a full open state, at a 90 degrees angle against the mesh fabric considered as a zero angle. When the roller blind rotates slowly anticlockwise the Blinking Panels will rotate equally in a harmonic rotation, this rotation will result in reducing the light shining through the mesh fabric, and when the roller blind completes an eighth of a revolution, the Blinking Panels will rotate to 45 degrees from the zero position, blocking 50% of the light shining through the mesh fabric, and when the roller blind completes a quarter of a revolution the light will be completely blocked result in moving the Blinking Panels downwards by 90 degrees from the original zero angle position and will be parallel and closed on the mesh fabric. When the roller blinds rotate further to complete a half revolution, the mesh fabric will move upwards and start to roll around the roller, and the LCBBF will be rolling around the blinds roller, and the more it is rolled the more fabric will be moving upward resulting in complete removal of the LCBBF fabric from covering the window to let full light through. The mechanism of the LCBBF is related to the quality and the accuracy of the ultrasonic welding creating an equal balance to allow all parts to move in harmony. The welded joins on the fabric will act as hinges to allow the Blinking Panels rotation to be smooth and effective.

Claims (9)

  1. Claims;
    1- A fabric bonded assembly comprising a single mesh fabric, Blinking Panel fabric and Control Straps fabric bonded in a formation, driven by a blind roller from the top.
  2. 2- A fabric assembly bonded in a formation as in claim 1, having Blinking Panels bonded to the mesh fabric, and pieces of fabric functioning as Control Straps bonded to the Blinking panels from the other side, driven by a blind roller positioned and bonded to and along the width of both the mesh fabric and the straps.
  3. 3- A fabric assembly bonded in a formation as in claims 1 and 2, the bonding to the blind roller being balanced giving the Blinking panels a horizontal position, and a perpendicular position to the mesh fabric and the Control Straps at the same time.
  4. 4- A fabric assembly bonded in a formation as in all preceding claims, where any rotation to the blind roller results in driving the Blinking Panel rotation too in a way that if the blind roller rotation exceeds a quarter revolution this will result in the collapse of the fabric assembly to a flat formation, and the fabric assembly wrapping around the blind roller according to the number of rotations applied.
  5. 5- A fabric assembly bonded in a formation as in all preceding claims, the mesh Fabric width being of any woven or non-woven material allowing light to shine through from 10% to 100%, and the fabric width being any size from 60cm to 500cm.
  6. 6- A fabric assembly bonded in a formation as in all preceding claims, the Blinking Panels being made of woven or non-woven material, being equal size and bonded in equal distance to its width, and the width size can being any size from 10mm to 200mm.
  7. 7- A fabric assembly bonded in a formation as in all preceding claims, the Control Straps being made of any woven or non-woven material, the width of each Control Strap being from 2mm to 150mm.
  8. 8- A fabric assembly bonded in a formation as in all preceding claims, the Blind Roller, being of any tubular size from 10mm to 200mm diameter, being made of Aluminium, metal, wood, plastic material, the bonding to the mesh fabric and straps being glue, sticky tapes or any other bonding material and any type of clamping or fixing.
  9. 9- A fabric assembly bonded in a formation as in all preceding claims, the fabric bonding being ultrasonic or glue bonded or similar.
