Abstract

An anti-glug device for liquid containers, the device comprising a body to be inserted into the container and a cap which may be a screw top. Preferably the insert is a conical shape or alternatively a straight tube shape, both having a plurality of apertures as well as a central axial fluid flow bore.

Description
The Anti-Glug Device is a simple, yet effective concept to prevent the common glug' problem with Tetra Pak-type containers, The device is a cone shaped object which also doubles up as a screwtop, onto which a cap can be fitted. The common glug occurs because air is allowed to flow freely through the relatively large hole in the container, usually resulting in the spillage of liquid. The Anti-Glug Device prevents this process by virtue of the holes in the cone shaped design. Thereby, air is slowly allowed to flow into the container, which prevents the glug.
The secondary function of the device is to regulate the flow of the liquid in an effort to make the pouring process slower, for application such as milk in coffee. Where faster pouring is required, a simple squeeze of the container will speed up the process, for applications such as milk in cereal.
The uses for this product are universal. Every type of liquid could be accommodated in the invention, with a small alteration of hole size for thicker liquids, such as oil and Juice with bits. The holes can also be altered to slots or fins' depending on which combination creates the best result for a given liquid. Another interchangeable aspect to the design is the caned shape. A straight tube equipped with holes would work just as well. A lip' near the screw cap will allow the device to be easily steam sealed onto every type of container.
Finally, the type of plastic used can be changed, depending on the application of the product. For example, for use in an oil can, a more rigid plastic would be appropriate, where as a Tetra-Pak style container would require a softer plastic (or flat-pack storage.
