Abstract
A dog lead securing apparatus that functions to eliminate the need for an owner to remove the lead from the collar or harness in order to create a secure lock around a table leg, pole, post or other similar mounting structure. The apparatus comprises a short section of strapping 1 provided with complimentary fastenings means 2, 3 at either end thereof. The strapping is further provided with hook and loop fastening mechanism 4a, 4b which allow the strapping to be compacted for storage purposes (fig 6). The apparatus fits compactly on standard lead handles and retractable lead handles and is easily applied and removed from lead handles.

LEAD SECURING APPARATUS
DESCRIPTION:
[0001] FIG. 1 is the view of an embodiment of the present disclosure showing a lead securing apparatus, the lead securing apparatus comprising: a flexible body (1) adapted so either end of the lead securing apparatus can loop around the inside of a dog lead handle and lock into the opposing end of the lead securing apparatus using a male/female side release buckle (2 and 3) or other similar mechanisms and a compacting assisting material (4a & 4b) including but not limited to; velcro, poppers, snap fastener, magnets or other similar devices.
[0002] Referring to FIG. 2, the lead securing apparatus is shown in its compact state which is how it could sit on the dog lead handle should the owner so desire.
[0003] Referring to FIG. 3, the lead securing apparatus is shown as it is looped around the inside of a dog lead handle (by inserting 2 or 3).
[0004] Referring to FIG. 4, the lead securing apparatus is shown with side of the flexible body (where one of the compacting assisting material (4a) is located (for example, loop velcro)), is folded over around the dog lead handle.
[0005] Referring to FIG. 5, the lead securing apparatus is shown with the other side of the flexible body (where the other compacting assisting material (4b) is located (shown in FIG. 3) (for example, hook velcro)), is folded over around the dog lead handle to come into contact with its opposite and attractive material.
[0006] Referring to FIG. 6, the lead securing apparatus is shown with both sides of the flexible body attached using the compacting assisting material (4b), allowing the lead securing apparatus to sit compact on the dog lead handle.
[0007] The lead securing apparatus body (1) may be manufactured from any number of materials, including but not limited to metals such as polypropylene webbing, nylon webbing, polyester webbing etc. In addition, alternative materials such as plastic or synthetic-type materials and metals may be used. Such materials may be woven, cast, printed, cut, injected, or pressed into the required shape using hinges if necessary. The lead securing apparatus body (1) may also be any number of colours or finishes, including matte, gloss or exposed plastic, synthetic material or metal.
[0008] The lead securing apparatus' side release buckles (2 and 3) or other similar mechanisms may be manufactured from any number of materials, including but not limited to plastics, metals such as nickel-plated metal, gold-plated metal, brass, steel, aluminium etc. The lead securing apparatus' side release buckles (2 and 3) or other similar mechanisms may also be any number of colours or finishes, including matte, gloss or exposed plastic, synthetic material or metal.
[0009] The lead securing apparatus' compacting assisting material (4a and 4b) may be manufactured from any number of materials, including but not limited to velcro, poppers, snap fastener, magnets or other similar devices.
The application of this lead securing apparatus is not limited to the embodiments shown.
Other people have tried to solve this problem, however this lead securing apparatus is different because it is a detachable accessory which can fit onto any lead new or old. It also different from the inventions below because it is an accessory which can be folded upon itself to sit compact on an existing dog lead handle, rather than being part of the handle already. The other existing inventions which address the problem mentioned in the above summary of my lead securing apparatus are: US 7938086 B2, US 6851393 B2, US 6662753 Bi & US 20120255506 Al.
