Abstract

A Motorised Vehicle comprising a four wheeled chassis 1, 3, a seat 7 and a steering tiller 5. The chassis of the vehicle may be configured such that the distance between the front wheels and rear wheels may be reduced by 150mm by automation. The seat may be configured to be raised and lowered by automation. The steering tiller may be configured to be raised from a horizontal position into a vertical position by automation. The chassis may be a sliding chassis. The sliding chassis may be configured to support a user weight of up to 158.76kg. A linear actuator 4 may be provided to extend or retract the chassis; in doing so the seat and the steering tiller may be raised or lowered accordingly.

Description

The invention relates to a Motor Driven Vehicle of a type which by Purely Mechanical Means is able to Automatically Transform the vehicle from its Usual Driving State into its Smallest (Practical) Folded State for ease of Storage and Transport.
Some such folding vehicles do exist which fall into 2 categories. Category I;-Vehicles which are able to be folded into the Smallest Practical Size by folding the front and rear chassis in a book like fashion, however to achieve the transfonnat ion result requires Some Considerable Effort and Dexterity by the user. Category 2;-Vehicles which are able to be folded into the Smallest Practical Size by using the single sliding tube design, this system also requires Some Considerable Effort and Dexterity to perform the task, this design also lowers the maximum user weight of this type of vehicle.
The object of this invention is to provide a vehicle, which, under its own power will make the transition from its Normal Driving State into its Smallest Folding State Automatically, therefore requiring Zero Effort and Dexterity during the whole process, and provide a vehicle suitable for the larger person.
A truly unique innovation for this type of vehicle.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
FIGURE 1. Shows both Front Sliding and Rear Chassis.
FIGURE 2. Shows the Front Sliding Chassis engaged within the Rear Chassis, connected by the Linear Actuator.
FIGURE 3. Shows the Tiller Operating Mechanism.
FIGURE 4. Shows the Rear and Front Chassis fitted with the Seat Mechanism.
FIGURE 5. Shows the Rear Anti-tip and Auxiliary Wheels.
FIGURE 6. Shows an elevation view of the vehicle in Normal Driving State.
FIGURE 7. Shows an elevation view of the vehicle in Smallest Folded State.
FIGURE 8 Shows an elevation view of the vehicle in Vertical Storage Mode.
As shown in figure I a Rear Chassis (I) is constructed with the parallel side members (2) in the form of guide channels to accept and facilitate the sliding action and support of the Front Sliding Chassis * (3) which is constsuctj in hollow square tube. Ejgurc 2 shows the Front Sliding Chassis (3) engaged into the Rear Chassis guide channels (2), both being connected by the Powered Linear Actuator (4).
fjggci shows the Steering Tiller(S) along with the Tiller Operating Mechanism (6), which facilitates the Raising and Lowering of the Tiller(s). figure 4 shows the Rear Chassis (I) engaged with the Front Sliding Chassis (3) fitted with the Seat (7) complete with Support and Operating mechanism (8). figure 5 shows a view of the Rear Anti-tip Auxiliary Wheels (9) also the Castor Wheels (10), which facilitate the easy manoeuvrabiliy of the vehicle whilst in the Vertical Storage Mode, also the Rear Lifting Handle (12) Figure 6 shows an elevation view of the vehicle in the Normal Driving State. Figure 7 shows the vehicle in the Smallest Folded State indicating the Front Lifting Handle (12). Figure 8 shows the vehicle in the Smallest Folded State and in the Normal Storage Mode.
The Modus Operendi of the invention is as follows:-To transforni Ihe vehicle from its Smallest Folded State Fig 7 into Its Normal Driving StateFig 6, the following sequence of events take place;-the vehicle in its Smallest Folded State Fig 8. is placed horizontally with its 4 driving wheels on the ground. On actuating the Start Button the Sliding Chassis Powered Linear Actuator (4) begins to move the Front Sliding Chassis (3) forward to increase the length of the vehicle, this action also begins to raise the Seat (7), the forward movement also inunediately activates the Tiller Operating Mechanism (6) which results in the Tiller(s) moving from the horizontal Storage Position into the vertical Normal Driving Position, the Front Sliding Chassis(3) continues to extend until it reaches the Normal Driving State Fig 6., at this pre-determined point, the Powered Linear Actuator(4) automatically stops.
To return the vehicle into its Smallest Folded State Fig 7, the following sequence of events take place;-With the vehicle in its Normal Driving State Fig 6, on actuating the Start Button, the Powered Linear Actuator (4) begins retracting to decrease the length of the vehicle, this action also begins to lower the Seat (7), the reduction in length of the vehicle continues with the Tiller (5) still in the vertical driving position until the reduction in the vehicle length is almost complete, at this point the Tiller Operating Mechanism (6) is activated which results in the Tiller (5) moving from the Vertical Driving Position into the Horizontal Storage Position, at which point the Powered Linear Actuator(4) automatically stops. The vehicle is now in its Smallest Folded State Fig 7 The vehicle is once again ready to be stored, this is achieved by the Lifting Handles provided at the Front (12) and Rear (11) Fig 7, the vehicle can be stored horizontally off the ground by gripping both Front (12) and Rear (II) Lifting Handles, or singularly lifting the Front Handle (12) and placing the vehicle vertically on the Rear Castor Wheels in the Normal Storage Mode fjge 8 this allows the owner to freely move it across the ground to a place of their choosing with the minimum of effort. 3.
