Abstract

The invention relates to a shower curtain 10 with rods (5 figure 4) placed in vertically spaced pockets 11 formed in the curtain, with the top of the rods placed in a hook hosing (4 figure 3). Ties (8 figure 5) are attached to guide hook heads (2 figure 5) formed on the housings (4 figure 5). The ties are placed under tension making the rods and curtain bow outwards. As a result the curtain rail may be positioned 150 cm outwards from an edge of a bath 12. The system uses less rings than conventional curtains making it quicker to change or exchange without using a ladder or stool and creates a larger volume and space internally whilst preventing the curtain wrapping around bathers.

Description

FIELD OF INVENTION
The invention resolves two inconveniences that occur when taking a shower in a small area such as in a conventional bath or shower tray, This device will allow more internal space inside for the bather when the curtain is closed and prevents the curtain from ballooning inwards and adhering to the person in the shower A further aspect of This invention removes the difficulty of having to stretch up to the curtain rail height to clip the hooks through the curtain individually to hang the shower curtain.
SUMMARY OF INVENTION
This invention relates to a shower curtain with rods and integrated hooks to hold the curtain in a position away from the bather allowing for a quicker attachment and release from the curtain rail. Additionally, the hook and rod system creates greater internal space for the bather, preventing the shower curtain from being drawn inwards and adhering to the body caused by the hot air rising and sucking the curtain inwards. The hook and rod system can easily be removed from the curtain allowing a curtain to be washed or replaced quickly.
Once the hooks and rods are in place, curtain tension is created with an elastic loop, cord ties, or other such tensioning device such as a buckle arrangement, to induce a curved or straight shape to the curtain rods, thus giving the curtain a curved or straight shape along its length.
Unlike a conventional shower curtain this design of shower curtain, needs less attachment points and can be hung up without having to stretch towards the curtain rail by using the stiffness of the rods within the curtain to hoist the curtain hooks over the curtain rail. When removing the shower curtain for washing or changing, it is made both convenient and quicker to disengage the curtain assembly from the curtain rail due to the hook and rod system.

DETAI LED DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION
The shower curtain (10) made from nylon, polyester, rubber or other suitable materials, has multiple rods (5) that are housed in vertical sleeves/pockets (II) that are stitched, glued on,or attached vertically on the curtain. The rods (5) can be made from plastic, polyurethane, wood, or any other suitable material, depending on the weight, strength and length of curtain required.
The rods (5) are inserted into the top of the curtain sleeve (11) all the way down till they stop at the stitching cap (9) created by a fold in the curtain (10) or by inserting plastic housing caps. The top of the rod (5) is inserted into the rod housing (4) of the guide hook (1). The hook (1) is secured by the top ties (8) made of elastic/nylon/cord tape or suitable material and this is stitched or glued on the inside edge of the rod sleeve (11). With the rod in place in its guide hook housing (4) . The elastic or cord ties (8) are then pulled up through the c shaped central cut out on the hook (1) and fastened over the top at the guide hook head(2) This is done with all rods along the length of the curtain, they can all be tensioned similarly the curtain will adopt a straight or curved shape to suit (fig 5, 10). Despite this more rigid structure it is flexible enough to be drawn back along the rail (6) with ease.
The front of the guide hook (1) has a semi-circular shape (3) that goes over the curtain pole (6). to support the curtain. This allows the guide hook device (1) to hang freely over the pole giving easy movement along its length for opening and closing. The ideal position for the curtain rail (6) should be slightly outward from the vertical line drawn from the edge of the bath (12) It is noted that the guide hooks (1) arc crucial to the operation of the system. The guide hooks (1) induce a rigid curved or straight shape due to the tension applied when the curtain tics (8) arc fastened through and over the guide hooks (1) therefore the weight of the curtain is transmitted to the rail (6) through the guide hooks.
The hooks (1) can be made in any suitable material from plastic to alloy depending on usc and weight of curtain. This action results in a curtain (10) you can hold in the middle by the rods (5) and freely hook the system over the curtain pole (6) quickly and efficiently without the need to stretch up or stand on a stool. The tensioned shower curtain can be positioned further out from the bath or tray by the curtain pole (6) being secured at a distance not in line with the edge of the bath or tub (12) as shown in fig 2, allowing for greater internal space and avoids the possibility of a cold shower curtain clinging to the bather,s skin.
To allow the curtain (10) to be changed simply unhook or slacken off the ties from the guide hook head (2) releasing the tension on the rods (5) this allows the hooks (1) to be freely removed from the rods 5) then simply slide out the rods 5) from the curtain sleeves (11) and change the curtain.

Claims (9)

  1. CLAIMS1. A hook and rod shower curtain and suspension system whereby a shower curtain made from any suitable material, having a plurality of sleeves or other slots incorporated vertically along its length in order to house rods of various suitable materials. After rods are inserted into said curtain, an individual multifunctional guide hook is attached to each rod head by means of the rod housing incorporated in the guide hook. With the hook inserted into the top of the curtain sleeve the curtain is in turn attached to the hook by means of ties and fastenings incorporated into the curtain whereby giving tension and a semi-rigid aspect to the curtain shape and form when assembled. The curtain rail can be hung 150cm outwards from the vertical point of the outside edge of a bath or tray with the foot of the curtain on the inside. The pre-assemblcd curtain can be held in the centre of the rods lifted and hung over the curtain rail therefore not requiring steps or stools to be hung. This system gives greater volume of space internally and prevents the curtain from wrapping around the bather, it is also very quick to assemble and dis-assemble change or exchange.
  2. 2 A hook and rod shower curtain of claim 1, whcrcin the curtain has slccvcs folded or fastened in plurality along its length.
  3. 3 A hook and rod shower curtain of claim 1, wherein multiple rods are inserted into said sleeves.
  4. 4 A hook and rod shower curtain of claim 1, wherein the multiftmnctional hook is inserted over each rod.
  5. S A hook and rod shower curtain of claim 1, wherein the curtain has fastenings or ties stitched or glued into the curtain at the top of the sleeves.
  6. 6 A hook and rod shower curtain of claim 4+1 wherein the hook itself incorporates a hook or pin to take curtain tics and fastenings.
  7. 7 A hook and rod shower curtain of claim 1-I-S wherein the ties are fastened and tensioned over the pin creating a rigid shape to the system.
  8. 8 A hook and rod showcr curtain of claim 1, whcrcin the curtain, thc curtain rods and thc curtain hooks can be pre-asembled prior to hanging on the curtain rail.
  9. 9 A hook and rod shower curtain of claim 1, wherein this system allows for the curtain to be hung ftmrther out due to the ridgidity of the rods creating greater internal volume and space and prevents curtain wrapping around bather.A hook and rod shower curtain of claim 1, wherein this system requires less hooks than conventional systems making it easy and quicker to change.
