Abstract

A golf driver head having 460cc maximum size, 2.8 inches (7.1cm) height and 5.0 inches (12.7cm) width as allowed in the Rules of Golf and a club-face loft of 18° (eighteen degrees) will be manufactured using standard Titanium heads with dimensions as allowed in the Rules of Golf for a 460cc driver and a maximum Co-efficient of Restitution (COR) of 0.830.

Undesirable backspii created in a golf shot using a driver is caused when the club-face makes contact with the ball underneath the ball centre-line and the Launch Angle of the ball is greater than the angle of the dr ver club-face. Drivers are manufactured today with face angles, typically, of 8° to 10,5° and this results in the contact point of the ball being 6° to 8° below the centre-line of the ball. At impact, the ball rolls up on to the angled club-face initiating the backspin that is observed in golf driver shots. Practical experiments on the driving range provide results that the Ball Launch Angle is in the range 15° to 23° with the optimum Ball Launch Angle being 18° (eighteen degrees) to achieve maximum distance and i-oil.
This Patent Application is to manufacture a Driver golf club head with the club-face angle being the same angle as the optimum Ball Launch Angle for maximum distance and roll. The Dr ver will use the same 460cc maximum size, height, depth and width dimensions as allowed in the Rules of Golf The competitive advantage achieved by this design is all the energy in the golf swing is transferred to the ball and not used in applyiig unnecessary backspin to the ball.
The Driver-head with a loft of 18° (eighteen degrees) will use the same 460cc maximum size. 2.8 inches height and 5.0 inches width dimensions as allowed in the Rules of Golf.
The Driver-heads with a club-face loft of 1 8°eighteen degrees) will be manufactured in the standard way using standard Titanium heads with dimensions as allowed in the Rules of Golf for a 460cc Driver and a maximum Co-efficient of Restitution (COR) of 0.830 as allowed by the Rules of Golf.
