Abstract

250,766. Sterling Telephone & Electric Co., Ltd., and Tiller, P. A. April 30,1925. Contacts. - Switch-arms co-operating with the contacts of variable inductances &c. or movable across the wire windings of filament resistances, potentiometers &c. comprise a resilient metal strip 5 doubled upon itself with the overlying parts 6, 7 at a short distance apart and both apertured to receive an operating spindle 4 of non-circular cross-section, the apertures being in line to receive the spindle 4 when the arm is stressed. The parts 6, 7 may comprise enlargements in the strip at one end and near its centre, and the ends of the strip may be stiffened by bending up at right-angles at the sides 9. The parts 6, 7 are moved towards or away from each other in introducing the spindle 4 and grip the spindle due to the resilience of the strip 5 and to the pressure of its end 9 on the wire winding. The spindle may have a flat at one side and may be notched at 14 to position the part 6. The Provisional Specification describes bending the enlarged end of the strip to form a grip.
