Abstract
An insect trap comprising a shallow tray containing an adhesive strip is shaped to fit over a mobile telephone (not shown) such that the mobile telephone may serve as a light source for attracting insects to the trap. In a preferred embodiment the adhesive 3 is provided on an upper surface of the tray within an area bounded by a raised lip 1, and the tray includes a downwardly depending peripheral edge 2 on the underside which has cut-away portions on each side such that the tray may straddle the mobile telephone when placed thereupon whilst allowing charging sockets and headphone sockets on the mobile telephone to remain accessible. The tray is preferably formed from plastics materials, and the adhesive strip preferably has a protective layer which is peeled-off to expose the adhesive. The adhesive strip may have a scent which attracts insects. In an alternative arrangement (not shown), the trap is placed upon a flatbed torch which acts as the insect-attracting light source.
Description
Insect Trap Cover for Mobile Telephone and/or Torch This invention relates to a mobile insect trap.
Flying and crawling insects, whether they bite or not, are a problem worldwide, causing allergic reactions, spreading disease and generally causing discomfort to many people both at home and whilst on holiday.
To overcome this, the present invention proposes a mobile insect trap, which doesn't require an electrical supply or application of unpleasant smelling creams or lotions. The insect trap comprises a shallow tray on the top of the accessory, with a fragranced/scented sticky strip. The fragrance of the strip attracts the insects and the stickiness of the strip will ensure insects are caught and not able to escape. The sticky strip is kept covered by a peel off plastic film which is removed when the trap is to be used.
The insect trap is designed to be placed over a mobile phone device or a flatbed torch, which can provide a light source to which the insects are also attracted.
The Insect Trap Cover is made of disposable plastic material enabling it to be light, portable and thrown away after one or more use.
Preferably the plastic used will be made from recycled materials or able to be recycled.
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings.
Figure 1 shows the view of the insect trap looking at it from above and shows the main area of the sticky strip.
Figure 2 shows the long side view of the invention, which is the same on both sides, with a partial open section to enable the mobile phone beneath the cover to be charged or have headphones plugged in.
Figure 3 shows the end side of the trap, again with a partial open section to enable the mobile phone underneath to be charged or have headphones plugged in.
Figure 4 details a view of the trap as though cut through the middle, showing the shallow sticky trap, the surrounding lip and curved sides.
A small lip 1 runs around the top of the device to securely contain the sticky strip 3. This also helps to prevent accidental contact between the sticky strip and the skin.
The curved edge of the insect trap is shown 2, which is open on both sides and ends to enable a universal fit around the differing makes and models of mobile phone and also allow for charging cables or headphone leads to be easily connected.
Claims (7)
- Claims 1. A mobile insect trap, not requiring an electrical supply or wiring.
- 2. The insect trap has a shallow tray containing a sticky scented strip to attract insects.
- 3. The insect trap is shaped to fit over a mobile telephone or flatbed torch, thus providing a light source to attract insects.
- 4. The raised shape of the trap makes it easy to pick up and handle.
- 5. The insect trap is made from lightweight plastic material and is light, portable and disposable.
- 6. The invention is open along each edge to allow mobile phone chargers or headphone jacks to be accommodated on any make or model of mobile phone.
- 7. The sticky strip has a removable peel off film to ensure the stickiness is protected until it is ready to be used.
