Abstract
A kneeling and body support aid for when performing floor work comprising means to support a users body weight. The device may have a support section 6 which a user can kneel upon and a seat section 2-4 upon which they can sit whilst kneeling. The seat may have three differently angled surfaces 2-4 upon which a user can sit. The device may be made from a single moulded form and have a sloped front.

PATENT APPLICATION Pt
RICHARD MAY
FOR
KNEELING AND BODY SUPPORT AID FOR FLOOR WORKING
Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to device that supports the body and aids kneeling when
Background
Devices for assisting and helping a person when having to kneel are known and comprise shaped forms to assist the user by means of various support.
These may adopt padded or raised areas that support the knees and seated area of the person when kneeling to work upon flooring or similar tasks. Some having wheel attachments or extending plains.
Summary of the invention
According to the present invention there is provided a shaped form that is produced in various assignments to provide a comfortable area onto which the user may rest upon during floor working; such as a tiler or builder and household user.
The device has a seated area and a protruding portion on which the leg or knee regions may be rested. This allows more ease of working for floor workers and may allow them to prevent body strain and work for longer periods in more comfort.
Brief Description of Figures
Figures 1 show an isometric view of the device Figures 2 show the device in use Figures 3 show a plan view of the device.
Detailed Description of Figures
The preferred and pictured embodiment of the device includes a main body 1 as shown in Figure 1, this comprises of a form that would suit the manufacture possibly of an injected foam or similar method. Its shape would derive from a raised mould embodiment that allows the user to seat or rest upon it at a comfortable point.
Therefore, this presentation states that the device 1 as shown may vary in height and this may be determined during manufacture. It has a seating area 2 as shown in Figure 1; this is where the user would mainly rest their body weight in an intermittent fashion during working on a floor.
As a floor worker operates that may move away from the seated areas 3, 2, and 4 as shown in figure 1, by way of leaning or crouching forward to attend work. An example of this would be a tiler or builder applying adhesive to a floor and having to move their arms and body forward to do this. The main body 1 of the device would either remain underneath the person by contact with the floor or by way of being gripped by their legs or inner thighs if moving or may remain seated as shown in Figure 2 on the main body 1A.
During this process of work, the person may rest upon the sloped front 3 as shown in Figure 1 to allow comfort and optimum positioning. The seating area 2 and the rear seating area 4 as shown in Figure 1 may also form part of this usage as the person adjusts their body position during the work process. The legs or knees of the person may require support during this process and this is provide via the extended leg supports 6 as shown in figure 1. These may vary in stature and length depending on the manufacturers requirements and we state in this presentation. They would however be form of a single part from the body 1 mould in preference for ease or production and would normally form flush or level with the ground or working surface U as shown in figure 1. It may also be noted in this presentation that these extended leg supports may also be flexible as shown with the broken Image in Figure 1. This may suggest that they may be formed of a flexible rubber that is of a softer more placid material for comfort of the person or user. The person or user may also find working more adaptable by addition of a nose 9 to the device main body 1. This would allow the frontal area to be more adapted for use when leaning forward on the slopped front 3 as shown in Figure 1.
The extended leg supports 6 may also incorporate a frontal leg or knee area 8 as shown; this is located specifically to allow ease of use and support for the person or users knee area or leg proportions.
To the underside of the main body 1 is the base which comes in contact with the floor and has openings to the foot 7 as shown in figure 1. These openings allow debris on the working surface or floor to pass underneath as the main body 1 is moved around the floor area or room. It is suggested within this presentation that the underneath of the device is made from the same single moulding as the main body 1. Figure 2 shows the main body 1A being used with the seating area 2A and extended leg supports 6A in use also.
It is noted that in Figure 3 the corners or angles of the main body 1 and all of its factors may be rounded in from as shown as a single example in E Figure 3.
This design aspect of a more rounded module embodiment of the main body 1 may apply to all angles and regions of the device to appease comfort and design preferences, as stated in this presentation. Figure 3 also shows plan views of there aie seating area 46 and the extended leg supports 6B with the sloped front 3B and an example of a protruding option of the nose area 106 The user may operate and move in all angles while remaining seated or partly seated; rested; supported, upon the main body device 1 lA and 16 as shown in all figures.
The device as shown may be moved around the floor area as the person requires to move to a different part of the floor by gripping the device between legs and sliding or shuffling their body to the new location this is aided by the smooth nature of the underside of the device body 1.
