Abstract

The invention features an external counterweight for the head, neck and upper body during sleep in an ergonomic side position. The unit comprises a forehead cushion which is placed against the forehead of a user and stabilising means which prevents the movement of the head in the direction of the unit. The stabilising means comprises iron balls and an empty box to create a volume. The iron balls are placed at the opposite side of the forehead holder at the bottom to make the unit more stable.

Description

1
Forehead sleep support:
This invention relates to a device for stabilising the human head during the ergonomic side sleeping position.
When humans start their sleep in the ergonomic side position than during sleep the head and neck can:
1. Assume the normal ergonomic position with the ears above the shoulders and the shoulders above the hips, The normal spinal curves are maintained when the head and neck are in this position,
2. Be flexed, with or without flexing the upper body. This can mean that the shape of the normal spinal curves can be changed during time; so especially when getting older. With the future prospect of the aging population this problem should be addressed.
To overcome the problem in 2., the present invention proposes a sleeping accessory unit for use during sleep in ergonomic side position, comprising a forehead cushion for placing against the forehead, and stabilising means such that the movement of the head in the direction of the unit can be prevented.
This sleeping accessory unit will make sure that the head; neck and upper body remain in the normal ergonomic side sleeping position during sleep on the same side, When the side sleeping position changes over night to the other side the user has the choice:
- to use two units
- or to use the unit only on the side sleeping position most frequently used,
The invention will now be described solely by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
fig ure 1 shows a simple model of the sleeping accessory unit.
In this example the forehead cushion 1 is made of a soft material to be placed against the forehead, the stabilising means 2 is filled with small iron balls with inside an empty box creating volume and making the unit not to heavy. A majority of the iron balls are placed at the opposite side of the forehead holder and at the bottom 3 to make the unit more stable on the pillow.
